In 2015, General Medical Council (GMC) has introduced a mobile app “GMC My CPD” to help registered doctors in the UK to manage their Continued Professional Development (CPD). According to the GMC, this app allows doctors to record their learning activities on the go, store learning points and help UK doctors manage their CPD.
GMC requires your documented proof of CPD for successful appraisal and revalidation. For a doctor practicing in the UK, it’s hard and challenging to maintain CPD under a given pressure work schedule. Apadmi has developed this app for GMC doctors to face those challenges while recording the ongoing CPD.
Chief Executive of the GMC, Niall Dickson said CPD is an integral part of practicing medicine. He expects the app will be a useful aid for front line doctors as it was developed and tested by practicing professionals. This app is supposed to keep the doctors learning records up to date and replicate appropriately on their learning.
The key features of the “GMC My CPD” are
It is a free app for both android and apple users. Once you complete your download, you will need to get registered to the app to set up and record your CPD. After your registration, you can note and classify your learning activities in various ways, based on your Personal Development Plan objectives or the GMC’s Good medical practice guidance however you like.
The app provide easy platform for downloading report of your activities which you can export onto your appraisal/ revalidation process. The app also allows you to export the report on a PDF or Excel format.
To keep your information secure and safe, the app is designed in a way that it does not run on a rooted or jailbroken device. Currently, the app is not accessible to windows phones, blackberry or other mobile operating system.
